Rework the metal, apply body filler, sand and feather edge the repair, prime the repaired area prior to painting.
Surface rust may be repaired by grinding the rusted area, treat the area with a rust neutralizer and fill the area. Areas rusted through require the part to be replaced or new metal to be welded in place.
